Update Your China Cabinet and More Pics

I think I've blogged before about adding wallpaper to the back of china cabinets and shelves but on The Nate Berkus show today, he was showing how you can just get foam board and cut it out to fit the back part of each shelf then instead of getting wallpaper, just get cute decorative wrapping paper which you see everywhere and wrap the cut out foam board pieces in the paper, adhere to the back and slide back to cover the backs of each shelf! I definitely want to try this.

New in Booth - Changing Table / Chest, Nightstand and More!

Here are some new things in my booth. The french vanity and mirror I posted a few days ago did sell so I won't be putting it on Craigslist.

This has been repurposed from an old stereo cabinet into a chest that could be used in several ways - it would make an adorable changing table, small buffet, hall cabinet...

This is a cute Broynill nightstand with crystal knob.

Beautiful French Vanity and Mirror

Here is a french vanity I recently found that I just love but unfortunately it needs a little TLC on one of the back legs. So I won't be putting it in my booth as is BUT I may put it on Craigslist and just let people know that the leg would need some sort of repair. I should know in the next day or two if I will list it and if so, I will post the price on the blog and my facebook page in case you are interested! I actually have it sitting up with the leg propped up, it just needs a little repair and then attach.

Greige Designs Blog and ChipIt by Sherwin Williams

Here is a blog I recently found that I love and you might enjoy - I will add it to my blogroll. I just love the look of shades of grays and whites mixed with raw unfinished wood like in lots of the photos on her blog.

She also talks about Chipit which I also read about on another blog and such a great idea. Chipit is an online tool that you can use to match up Sherwin Williams paint colors to any photo on the web.

You can take any image...

and find paint colors based on the palette in the image- You can also post it to your facebook, twitter, pinterest, or print it out.

New in my Booth at Greystone...

My Vintage+Modern Lamp

Here is a lamp I just put in my booth at Greystone. I think it turned out cute. I found a vintage lamp base and really liked the shape of it but it was a very bright blue so I painted it a distressed gray. I didn't use chalk paint but it is the perfect paint to put on a surface like a lamp! Then I found a cute drum lamp shade and added it plus the finial to top it. You can find tons of vintage lamp bases at flea markets, estate and yard sales and thrift stores. Or you can find the whole lamp and just replace the shade!

All Things Thrifty Blog and Sliding Barn Doors

Here is a great home makeover I saw on www.allthingsthrifty.com. You can check out her blog to see the great before and after pics.

Laura Lynn at Loading Dock South told me that the sliding barn doors are very popular in homes now and this one is so cute. You can purchase doors at Loading Dock South and I can distress it for you or you can also find old chippy paint doors at consignment furniture stores in town!

A Few Pics from Pinterest

Cute garden shed...

I really like this color combo and the glazing.

Wallpaper is back and there are so many cute geometric prints now.

Clocks must be back in, too...

If you ever find a nice piece of old furniture with drawers out, you could consider turning those drawers into shelving to add baskets.

You can easily find DIY's online for these - just find an old book and tear out the pages, roll and attach to a wreath mold and keep adding until you get the look you want!
