Thinking Outside of the Box

Mother and daughter customers Tracy and Kate were here today and also sent me a picture of an iron pot rack Kate just bought from the shop and used in her bedroom to hang scarves and jewelry! For being featured on the blog, they received $5.00 off today's purchase!

Send Home Pics for $5 off Next Purchase of $20 or More!

I love to hear from customers on how they use pieces of furniture or home decor bought at the shop in their home and also about creative home projects. Through the month of January, if you email picture(s) of either of these, your pics will be featured on the blog and you will receive $5.00 off your next purchase of $20.00 or more! You can email your pictures to kbush422@gmail.com.

THANK YOU!

As 2010 comes to an end, I just wanted to say a sincere thank you for your support of the shop and blog over the past 8 months. I have met the nicest people at the shop and made many new friends and am still surprised to have customers come in and tell me they follow the blog daily.

In 2011, look for more blog giveaways and promotions as well as in-store sales, events and promotions!

Have You Checked Out Etsy?

If you are not familiar with Etsy, it is similar to Ebay but items sold on Etsy are handcrafted. It is a great source to find unique, handcrafted items, to get creative ideas, and to try to get started selling items yourself. There are also many ways to search on Etsy - you can search for specific materials, by seller, vintage items only, and you can also search "local" so you can find Etsy vendors in the Birmingham area. If you make a handcrafted item, it is a great and inexpensive way to get started. I think it only costs 20 cents to list an item!

Here are a few interesting Etsy shops you might want to check out:

Blog List Additions

I've added some new blogs to my blog list (on the right) that you might enjoy! FYI, the blog "Elizabeth Ann's" is by Elizabeth, who has a beautiful booth at Consigning Interiors in Pelham.

Paris Flea Markets

A lot of people have asked why I named the shop The French Flea. The name actually came from the idea of a Paris flea market - drippy crystal chandeliers, ornate frames and mirrors, french curved furniture, chippy paint and aged patina on furniture. And also the "shabby chic" idea of mixing a more expensive crystal chandelier with a weathered farm table. I may not always find those great things but at least it is the idea behind the name! Here are a few "Paris Flea Market" pics.

New Pictures Posted Tomorrow

Sorry I didn't get new pictures posted today but I have been working on some pieces and will post pictures of them tomorrow. I'm also rearranging things in the shop and am going to use the back room for sale and clearance items so I'll be posting more on that as well. The large wood board frames sold very well at the show so I'm working on more of those. They hold 8x10 photos and would make a great gift!

SHOP CLOSED TODAY AND TOMORROW!

I'm really sorry for any inconvenience but the shop will be closed today AND tomorrow since I''m working at the show. I had to raid the shop of so much merchandise and display that it looked very sparse! I will try to post pictures of the show during the day today, there are some great booths. I'll have some new pieces in the shop by next week and will post pics early next week!
