Mother and daughter customers Tracy and Kate were here today and also sent me a picture of an iron pot rack Kate just bought from the shop and used in her bedroom to hang scarves and jewelry! For being featured on the blog, they received $5.00 off today's purchase!
I love to hear from customers on how they use pieces of furniture or home decor bought at the shop in their home and also about creative home projects. Through the month of January, if you email picture(s) of either of these, your pics will be featured on the blog and you will receive $5.00 off your next purchase of $20.00 or more! You can email your pictures to email@example.com.
As 2010 comes to an end, I just wanted to say a sincere thank you for your support of the shop and blog over the past 8 months. I have met the nicest people at the shop and made many new friends and am still surprised to have customers come in and tell me they follow the blog daily.
In 2011, look for more blog giveaways and promotions as well as in-store sales, events and promotions!
If you are not familiar with Etsy, it is similar to Ebay but items sold on Etsy are handcrafted. It is a great source to find unique, handcrafted items, to get creative ideas, and to try to get started selling items yourself. There are also many ways to search on Etsy - you can search for specific materials, by seller, vintage items only, and you can also search "local" so you can find Etsy vendors in the Birmingham area. If you make a handcrafted item, it is a great and inexpensive way to get started. I think it only costs 20 cents to list an item!
Here are a few interesting Etsy shops you might want to check out:
The shop will be open this Wednesday from 11:00 - 5:00, Thursday from 11:00 - 5:00 and Friday the shop will be open until at least 3:00 and later if customers are still coming in, so feel free to stop by for last minute shopping!
Just wanted to let you know that I am working on a trunk show for one Saturday in January. There will be a Pampered Chef rep as well as a rep for Stella & Dot jewelry, which if you haven't seen is very beautiful and unique. More details to come!
These french provencial chairs are $25.00 per chair for the set or $28.00 each sold individually. I do have several other chairs in shop so if you need a set of 4, you could choose one of those to make a set of 4. They are not painted yet so you can pick your color and fabric!
A lot of people have asked why I named the shop The French Flea. The name actually came from the idea of a Paris flea market - drippy crystal chandeliers, ornate frames and mirrors, french curved furniture, chippy paint and aged patina on furniture. And also the "shabby chic" idea of mixing a more expensive crystal chandelier with a weathered farm table. I may not always find those great things but at least it is the idea behind the name! Here are a few "Paris Flea Market" pics.
Sorry I didn't get new pictures posted today but I have been working on some pieces and will post pictures of them tomorrow. I'm also rearranging things in the shop and am going to use the back room for sale and clearance items so I'll be posting more on that as well. The large wood board frames sold very well at the show so I'm working on more of those. They hold 8x10 photos and would make a great gift!
Here is customer Brittain (on the right) with her friend Amy. Here is Beth who came today and I think is coming back tomorrow! Here is a picture of customers Leona and Jennifer (mother and daughter) who came to the show today. They came back tonight so I think they enjoyed it!
I'm really sorry for any inconvenience but the shop will be closed today AND tomorrow since I''m working at the show. I had to raid the shop of so much merchandise and display that it looked very sparse! I will try to post pictures of the show during the day today, there are some great booths. I'll have some new pieces in the shop by next week and will post pics early next week!
A reminder about the Birmingham Hollydazzle Arts & Crafts Show this Friday and Saturday at the Brook Highland Plaza from 9:00 am. - 7:00 p.m. The shop will be closed on Friday in order to work at the show. I will post on Friday about shop hours on Saturday. Sorry for any inconvenience.
