Annie Brahler's Euro-Trash

I first read about Annie Brahler and her unique business, Euro-Trash, a few years ago when she was featured in a Country Living Magazine article. She has built a successful import business traveling to and from Europe and scouring the countryside for antique "farmhouse castoffs". Here are some pictures from her beautiful home which I'm sure is filled with many of her great finds.

The Paris Apartment

Today I'm blogging about Claudia Strasser at parisapartment.com. Her website says that she started her business opening a boutique in New York City. She offers shopping trips through the famous flea markets and brocantes of Paris. Wouldn't that be fun?



She also has a book showcasing her great style - "The Paris Apartment: Romantic Decor on a Flea Market Budget". It is a beautiful book and is available on Amazon and I'm sure in local bookstores.

Vintage Inspired Bedroom Makeover

I saw this on a couple of blogs on the blog list and had to share this beautiful bedroom. The decorator is Emily of "A Well Dressed Home" and the homeowner is Jennifer of "Memento Designs". You can look on either of their blogs for more pictures. Emily described the bedroom makeover as an Anthropologie-inspired revamp and the other photo I included of Jennifer's bridal portrait seems to have that great Anthropologie vintage look.

This really inspires me to want to do a bedroom makeover. If you ever do a room makeover, please send before and after pics, I'd love to blog about it!

Here is a neat door I just finished for Janice Roberts who has a beautiful booth at Vestavia Antiques & Interiors. She will have the door either for display or sale at her booth.

A Piece Painted for a Customer

Here is a piece I just finished for a customer. She bought the secretary here but it was painted the pale blue and didn't match her wall color so she picked out this color ("Porpoise" by Sherwin Williams) and brought me to paint - and I really liked it.

Stephanie's Pics

Stephanie is one of several customers at the shop who works at Francesca's at the Summit, which is a great store if you haven't been. Stephanie sent pics of several pieces she has bought at the shop that she and her fiance are buying for their new home. They usually will get me to repaint the pieces to match their colors. Remember if you see a piece in the shop or on the blog that isn't the right color to match your decor, I can repaint for you for a small additional charge!

Pieces Coming in...

I won't get pictures posted until tomorrow but here are some new pieces coming into the shop: two mirrors, console table, dresser/buffet (this piece has no cabinets, it's all drawers, but taller than traditional dresser so would make great buffet), two headboards (I think they are both queen and I know a few people are looking for these so I will email you first).

Miss Mustard Seed

Today I'm sharing a wonderful blog - missmustardseed.blogspot.com. Marian is a freelance writer for HGTV and on her blog shares great tips on how to create a beautiful home with thrift store finds. She also has well written, easy to follow tutorials on everything from paint techniques to how to reupholster and make slipcovers. Guess what she used to reupholster the beautiful chair in the pictures - drop cloths! I'm adding her to the blog list - be sure to check it out!

Thrifty Idea for a Burlap Dust Ruffle!

Here is a link to a photostream on Flickr and the third picture is of a bedroom where they have used a brown burlap dust ruffle. Here is a thrifty idea for a dust ruffle - you can purchase brown burlap at Hobby Lobby and just tuck the fabric between your mattress and box springs or use velcro to secure the fabric and then you can either puddle the fabric at the bottom or buy "Liquid Stitch" to hem. You could also use window treatment panels or valances (velvet or silk would look great) and turn longways.
