The Helena Art on the Side sidewalk art show will be held this Saturday in Old Town Helena from 8:00-4:00.. There will be displays and sale items from local artists showcasing jewelry, paintings, ceramics, pottery and other types of media. Look at the cute logo...

Helena Elementary will be having their spring fling the next weekend and Tannehill Trade Days have now started and are held every third weekend of the month. So now that the weather is getting so nice, it's a great time to get out and enjoy some of the events around town!

When I met Lana last summer, she was in the middle of launching her new business, Posh Birmingham. I know she put a lot of hard work into upstarting this business so I hope she is so successful! The website is poshbirmingham.com. Saving money has never been so posh. Specially priced gift certificates to Birmingham's finest restaurant and retail hot spots are available here and quantities are limited so don't wait! Print them instantly or order a gift card!

Marcie Dreffs Photography

When I first opened my shop in Old Town, Helena, two of the first people I remember meeting are Marcie Dreffs and Lana Hill. Marcie has a photography studio in Old Town. Marcie is incredibly talented as you can see in these pictures she has taken. Her website is marciedreffs.com. My next blog will be about her friend Lana!

The table, mirror and chandelier used in the above middle pic were purchased at the shop!

Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic and Prairie Bed & Breakfast

So if you are familiar with the style, you probably know that Rachel Ashwell is the creator of "shabby chic". She also has the line "Simply Shabby Chic" in Target stores. I just looked at the Garden Antiques blog because I know Theresa just got back from Round Top and she linked to Rachel Ashwell's blog and apparently she is just opening a bed and breakfast called "Prairie" that must be around the Warrenton area. Here are some pictures:

The next Round Top, TX shows are in October and myself and several vendor friends in town are planning a trip there, not to be vendors, but to just shop and experience it! When Theresa at Garden Antiques posts her pictures, I will add to my blog and link to hers.

Rachel Ashwell's website is shabbychic.com.

Cute Ideas for Using Burlap at Funky Junk Interiors!

Here are some very cute ideas for using burlap over at Funky Junk Interiors. I'm adding the blog to the bloglist - funkyjunkinteriors.blogspot.com!

Bedroom Makeover on a Budget!

Here are some pics of this budget bedroom makeover (still in progress)! The walls are the Ashes color by Behr I blogged about a few weeks ago and I love it. It looks great in any light.
The window treatments I am using are actually 2 shower curtainsI found at TJMaxx for only $19.99 each! I loved the flowers going across the top and bottom but shower curtains are usually pretty thin so here is a tip to make them look fuller. Buy a set of rings with clips to go on your rod, then use another pair of heavier window treatments - you may have some old ones or you can go to your thrift store and usually find the old heavy drapery panels and just put them back to back and clip onto the rings. I love for window treatments to puddle but these shower curtains weren't long enough to even reach the floor so I am adding a beautiful black damask to the bottom and allowing that fabric to puddle!

Here is an ornate frame I love and added a sconce in the middle. Gold sconces with crystal prisms is a great "french" look but can be very expensive. But, you can always find these sconces and candleholders at your local thrift store. Look for ones that have the holes already punched in them so that you can add the crystal prisms. Crystal prisms can be ordered on Ebay...or, Hobby Lobby often has ornaments or different items where you can just remove the crystals and add that are very inexpensive!

I bought two of these chairs and sold one in the shop. They were a beautiful wood but I kept this one and painted it white then added some of the light gray on top and distressed.

Steinmart has the cutest pillows and they are often on sale 30% off an already sale price! Customers often ask how to use doors and shutters and they look great just leaned against the wall to create cozy little nooks!

I always forgot to take before pictures but here is a before and after I took - there are two of the frames in the booth at Encore now - they would be beautiful with glass added and made into mirrors!

New Items!

Here are some new items I just put into my booth at Encore. I actually have two of the chocolate brown/french blue french provencial nightstands (there is only one in the picture). The bed is full/queen. I am working on a beautiful buffet and will post a picture of it as soon as it is ready and before I put it in the booth so let me know if you are interested!
